Speech (Ms. Holst)

Welcome to the class where you will gain more confidence not in only public speaking, but you will learn communication skills for all different parts of your life.

Life at RHMS:

I helped to open RHMS in 2003 as an 8th grade language arts teacher.  About five years ago, I asked our principal if I could teach speech as an elective because I was tired of watching really bad presentations. Seriously!  I absolutely love teaching this class.  There is nothing like seeing you become more confident on stage after just one presentation.  We spend a lot of time working on skills, but we also play a lot of games to help you to develop those skills over time. I PROMISE that you will walk out of my class as a better speaker than the day you entered it.

I am also the Gifted and Talented Lead for the RCHS Feeder.  Gifted education is my passion.

Education:

Bachelor of Arts = San Diego University (Go Aztecs)
Master of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in language arts = San Diego State University
Gifted and Talented Specialist Endorsement

Life at Home:
I am happily married to my handsome hubby, and we dote on our pug, Stuey. No, we don't normally dress him up, but we had to cheer on our favorite Broncos. His facial expression looks like he is dying of embarrassment on the inside.

In my free time, I love to read on our deck, go hiking with my friends or hubby, travel, hug on my family, and hang out with friends.  I also enjoy doing archery for some fun!
