After over a decade teaching high school English in Pearland, Texas, I relocated with my family to the Denver area in 2022 and joined the team at Rocky Heights Middle School as an 8th-grade Language Arts teacher. I’m passionate about helping students strengthen their critical thinking and discover the power of their own writing voice. Outside of school, my wife and I are kept busy with our four kids as we explore all the outdoor adventures Colorado has to offer.

I have been teaching for a long time (since 2011 if you don’t count making my little brothers and sisters work in my basement classroom growing up). Despite this, I did not always want to be a teacher (although my family would probably say it’s always been in my bones) and definitely not a boring history teacher until my eyes were opened to the true nature of doing history by Dr. Laugen at my alma mater, Metro State in Denver where I graduated with a B.A. in History and Secondary Education. After a few years teaching adults in the private sector (boring adults… no offense..) I was called back to middle school in 2014. Since then, I have built a little family in Castle Rock with my partner in crime, Alistair and our BUSY offspring- Cadence and Cosette, Henry, and Winnie. My other joys and passions include being a true native spending outdoors year-round in our gorgeous state, gardening, crafting, reading, and always improving my teaching pedagogy.
I have been a teacher at RHMS since 2017. I began here as a 6th-grade math teacher and transitioned to my current position as a wellness teacher in 2021. I love working in the wellness department and working with kids on their physical, emotional, and mental health. I am passionate about teaching kids life-long skills such as: personal fitness, personal nutrition, stress management, and self and social awareness skills. I am lucky to be doing what I do!

My name is Sarah Windlow, and I am thrilled to be serving as a 7th and 8th Grade Learning Specialist I have been in education in various roles since graduating from college in 2000. I earned my Master's in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota in 2006, and have lived and worked in the Douglas County School District since 2022. While I have taught in many different places, Rocky Heights is by far my favorite school!
