I've been teaching middle school Language Arts in Douglas County since 2000 and am proud to have been a part of the Rocky Heights staff since 2011. I earned my BA in Teaching English in Secondary Schools and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on literacy. Beyond the classroom, I'm passionate about managing our school garden and also serve as a wrestling coach.
The Rocky Heights community is home for my family. We've lived here for over 20 years, and both of my sons attended Wildcat Elementary and Rocky Heights. My youngest is now at Rock Canyon High, and my oldest is a proud CU Boulder student after graduating from Rock Canyon. My wife is also a career educator; she taught in Douglas County for over two decades before moving into higher education at DU.
When I'm not at school, you'll find me enjoying the Colorado outdoors. I love fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, and gardening. I'm also a huge fan of literature (and a self-proclaimed Hemingway scholar!), enjoy writing, and am an avid film buff.
Hello! I’m Audrey Burt, and I am excited to be transitioning to 7th grade science. I formerly attended Rocky Heights Middle School, and have returned in 2025 as a teacher. I earned my undergraduate degree from MSU Denver, where I was also a college athlete.
I'm Mrs. Harrington. I’m a native of Colorado and attended school in the Cherry Creek school district. I have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and I have been teaching since 2002. I have been teaching at Rocky Heights for over half of my teaching career. I taught 6th-grade Language Arts/Adv. LA for 6 years and served as the department chair. I transitioned my role to Literacy Specialist/ READ Act coordinator and taught Dimensions in Literacy. In 2022 I decided to dive into Social Studies and have been loving it ever since!
My husband and I have a son in high school and a daughter in college. We love the outdoors and spending time with friends.
In 7th-grade Social Studies, we'll journey through time and across continents, connecting past events and people to our world today. We'll explore how history, culture, and geography all come together to shape our lives. Get ready for an exciting journey through time!
Hi there! My name is Mrs. Taylor and I am the 7th Grade Expeditioners Wellness Teacher here at RHMS. Wellness encompasses both Health and PE; both of which are vital to your child's overall growth and development as they navigate through Middle School. I am passionate about teaching both Health and PE! I love being active and being outside as much as I can. Yet I also appreciate some down time with a good Netflix show or podcast. I am married and have 3 daughters, all who went through Rocky Heights, and I have lived in Douglas County for over 30 years. I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your 7th Grader! Rocky Heights is a great place to be! :)
Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns about your 7th Grader at ptaylor@dcsdk12.org. I check my emails in the evenings and try to get back to you as soon as I can. I encourage parents to join your child's Google Classrooms so you can be in the loop with assignments and projects.
