Meet the RHMS Counselors
Counseling Team
Kate Egan
My name is Kate Egan and I am the counselor for the Pathfinder, Adventurer, and Explorer Teams. I'm lucky enough to get to work with all three grade levels this year! I have been at Rocky Heights since 2004 and have been in middle school counseling since 1995. I love this age group and all of the changes we see them go through. We concentrate on academic, social-emotional and career needs. We see students on an individual basis, in groups, and also spend time in the classroom as needed. We are one part of a team made up of parents, students and teachers to help your child accomplish their goals. The best way to stay connected is to read the weekly newsletter from your child's team, use Parent Portal, Google Classroom, and the RHMS website. If you are connected with these, you can stay up to date on just about everything. But if you have questions, please feel free to call or email to arrange a time to chat.

Caroline Maiocco
I am the counselor at Rocky Heights working with the 6th Grade Blazers and 6th Grade Trekkers for the 2025-2026 school year. This is my fifth year at Rocky Heights Middle School, and I am honored and grateful to work at such a supportive and welcoming school.
A few fun facts about me are:
1) I am an avid Taylor Swift fan
2) I hope to make it on Family Feud someday
3) I love talking about music, movies, and travel
The middle school years can bring a wide range of emotions and experiences. As a school counselor, I am here to support students in their academic, career/post-secondary, and social/emotional needs. I love working with middle school students because I believe the middle school years are a valuable time to discover one's own strengths, interests, and unique value as an individual, while also learning how to navigate challenges and problem-solve. Everyday, I seek to collaborate with students, their families, and the RHMS staff to help students meet their greatest potential and understand who they are. I look forward to navigating this school year together and getting to know you!
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you! Go Nighthawks!

At RHMS we support students and their families in a variety of ways. Generally, our counseling support falls into three general areas:
- Academics
- Personal and Social Development
- Post Secondary Awareness
Our charge is to help students be the best they can be as a student and member of our larger community by providing them a safe place to express themselves and problem solve life situations. We are part of a team which includes students, staff, and parents. Working together, we provide each student with an incredible opportunity to reach beyond their own expectations.
8th grade will be a year of growth in all areas: academic, social, and emotional. During this time, academic successes and challenges will certainly play out. Friendships will be made and relationships will evolve. As we progress through the year, please feel free to contact me by phone, email or just drop by with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child's progress here at RHMS.
Thank you for choosing to be a NIGHTHAWK!

I am one of the two 7th grade counselors at Rocky Heights for the 25-26 school year! I will be working with students on the Expeditioner & Seeker teams, however, we are here to support ALL students to meet their individual needs. Ann Guenther is our 7th grade administrator, and together, will we do our best to provide the most supportive environment for your student.
This is my seventh year in middle school counseling, my tenth year at Rocky Heights and my 18th year in education! I have three kids (2 high school, 1 middle) in DCSD and feel lucky to both live and work in our district. My husband, kids, and I love to travel, hike, swim, and spend time outside with our dog, Izzy!
I like to tell students I am here to work with them in any or all of these three main areas: social/emotional needs, academic support, and career exploration. At RHMS, we're able to provide a wide variety of intervention services including:
