As we wrap up our novel studies, students are transitioning into their argument writing unit, where they will apply critical thinking and persuasive writing skills.

Advanced Language Arts students finished reading Monster last week and are now preparing to write an argument about the protagonist’s trial verdict and the appropriate consequences—or lack thereof. To strengthen their arguments, students will take notes on rhetorical devices such as figurative language, repetition, and irony, while also learning to identify and avoid common logical fallacies.

Language Arts students are completing Across Five Aprils and will soon begin their argument writing piece. Their task is to craft an advice column, offering guidance to a main character facing a significant challenge in the novel. This assignment encourages students to think deeply about character motivations and historical context while practicing persuasive writing techniques.

The Seasons Quiz will be on Tuesday, March 4 last week.

Students who didn’t earn at least a 3 on the Phases and Eclipse Quiz have an opportunity to retake the quiz.  They will need to complete a review packet prior to the retake and retakes should be completed by the end of school on Friday, March 7.
