This week, students will wrap up their expository essays. We will focus on writing an effective conclusion and transferring skills from the ECR organizer into well-developed body paragraphs. By the end of class on Friday, all essays should be fully written.
Advanced Language Arts classes will begin an introduction to our next unit, Power of Perspectives, while Language Arts classes will start the unit Hear Me Out. Both units center around argumentative texts, where students will analyze and craft arguments to develop critical thinking and persuasive writing skills.

This week we are continuing with the Early Republic. We will be looking at the War of 1812, the Monroe Doctrine, and the Missouri Compromise.
On Friday we will have a Source Analysis quiz, and then a quiz on our Work Habits readings on Monday.

The Natural vs. Artificial Selection Quiz has been moved to Monday, Jan. 27.
We will be discussing high school recommendations during class on Tuesday this week. The slides for high school recommendations can be found on the Google Classroom stream attached to Tuesday’s post.

1 = Regular redirects/reminders within the defined criteria. Conduct creates a disruption to the learning environment. Parent Contact & Intervention necessary.
