Students will focus on analyzing the story structure and its impact on meaning. Students will develop an extended written response comparing the story structure of two of the last three stories read in class: “The Monkey’s Paw”, The Graveyard excerpt, The Conjure Man Dies excerpt. At the end of the week, students will develop the plot of their narrative
ALA
Students will analyze the plot structure of their Fahrenheit 451 excerpt. Students will choose 1 of 3 questions connected to the excerpts plot elements and develop an extended constructed response. Students will use a literary analysis wheel to develop their narrative.

This week we are starting off by comparing and contrasting Paul Revere and Sybill Luddington. We will then wrap up our notes on the Revolutionary War and prepare for an open note quiz on Friday.
Students will also examine sources about the winter at Valley Forge, and work on a Revolutionary War simulation.

The Wave Parts & Properties Quiz was on Monday, Sept. 30. Please have your student see Haney if they need to make up the quiz.
Retakes for the Thermal Energy Transfer Quiz were discussed in class on Monday.
This week we’ll be continuing our wave unit by learning about mechanical waves. The last assessment this quarter will be over mechanical waves and it will be during the last week of the quarter. Students who are absent for that quiz will receive an Incomplete (I) for the 1st quarter content knowledge grade AND will be able to make up the quiz when we return. The Incomplete (I) will then be updated.
