Week of 9/21 - 9/25

Language Arts

This week we are writing our final reader’s response for the novels we’ve read.  This reader’s response is going to have added information including: a TAG (title, genre, author), academic vocabulary, and finally a piece of evidence from the text.  Students are also working on a sentence review.  A quiz for this will be posted in GClassroom after students take some time studying and completing a card sort I’ve created on GSlides.

This week we are going to be taking a look at how our sleep is affecting our lives. We also are tying in our YESS lessons with digital safety using EverFi

This week Math 8 will be finishing our first unit over equations on tuesday/wednesday with a test. We will be moving into our unit on functions next. There will be a video they take notes with on wednesday for B and Thursday For A.

Algebra is continuing with Functions. We are looking at function representation first and then how to build function rules later this week.

  • T - means turned in complete

  • I - Incomplete: not fully completed, missing something from the heading, no work shown

  • M - Missing

The Punnett Square #2 that was scheduled for this week has been postponed.  Right now the plan is to take it next Wednesday and Thursday.  Students will begin learning about pedigree charts this week in Science as well as working on their superhero GMO. Please remind your student that it’s very important for them to read the daily announcement that can be found in the Stream on Google Classroom.

Social Studies

  • This week students will start learning about the roots of the Revolutionary War

  • Students will write an obituary for Benjamin Franklin.  This is part research, and part expository writing
