Language Arts

Advanced Language Arts: Students will refine their MLA citation skills for the You Be the Judge assignment. Using Monster as a basis, they will research legal precedents to determine a fair verdict and consequences for the protagonist.

Language Arts: We will analyze Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address to explore rhetorical strategies. Students will also continue drafting their Dear Milton advice columns, applying rhetorical appeals to strengthen their arguments.

This week we are looking at Industrialization and Urbanization.  Students will be finishing the layout of their towns, and reflecting on urban growth.


We will then be looking at some of the revolutionary inventions of the 1800s.  Students will conduct research, and then participate in presentation brackets.

The Wind and Pressure Systems Quiz will be on block day this week and will be the last quiz of the quarter. The study guide for the quiz was handed out in class on Monday.  Students who didn’t earn at least a 3 on the Seasons Quiz may do a retake after they complete a review worksheet.

Pre-Season Track Camp

 

Who:  All athletes (6th, 7th & 8th graders) who are interested in getting in shape and learning a little more about the events before the season starts

 

When: Monday-Thursday 

- March 24-March 27

- March 31- April 3

Where (Attendance): Play Pad or Chalet 6 (weather dependent)

Time: 3:00-4:00 p.m.

*Athletes must be checked in and ready to work out by 3:00 p.m.  Attendance will be taken by 2:55 every day!

*Athletes will complete a variety of warm-ups, workouts, and learn more about track and field events. 

*Workouts will be outdoors.  Wear appropriate clothes, shoes, hats, and gloves if necessary!

Cost: $35 *Sign up on MySchoolBucks (after March 4)!

2 = Multiple redirects/reminders within the defined criteria. Redirect leads to short lived change in conduct.

1 = Regular redirects/reminders within the defined criteria. Conduct creates a disruption to the learning environment.  Parent Contact & Intervention necessary.
